Nortel / Avaya News:
Avaya Inc. won an auction for a Nortel Networks Corp. unit that makes phone systems for businesses, offering about $900 million for the operation, plus an additional $15 million for an employee-retention program.

What does this mean to you: In short, Avaya has an 18 month plan that will unltimately spell the end of Nortel hardware sales and support. There are exceptions if you're under a Nortel Service Agreement that extend this time period out but the strategy is clear. If you currently own Nortel equipment you'd better start thinking ahead.
